 World Champion for Ballinamore Based Irish Dance School 

The World Open Irish Dance Championships were held recently in Breaffy House,Castlebar, Co. Mayo, the Mc Cartin SD who hold weekly classes in Drumreilly and Ballinamore made history when they won their first ever World Championship title when eight very talented pupils won the Ceili u13 competition competing against dancers from all corners of the World. The winning team included, Darragh and Allanah Gunn, Rachel Mc Intyre, Conor Edwards, Kate Gilheany, Cillian Cullen, Eabha Gill and Shane Mc Gourty. Congratulations to the pupils and their teacher Karl Mc Cartin.

World Success!
The World Open Championships were held last weekend in Breafy House Mayo, with over 3000 competitors from across Ireland, Europe, USA and Australia. the Mc Cartin SD recorded a historic win when eight pupils lifted the World title for the Ceili u13 competition. the winning team consisted of Alannah and Darragh Gunn, Aughnasheelin, Kate Gilheany, Fenagh, Conor Edwards, Newtowngore, Shane Mc Gourty, Mohill, Eabha Gill, Fenagh, Cillian Cullen, Aughnasheelin and Rachel Mac a Intyre, Aughavas. All Ireland and World Success for Mc Cartin SD 

The Mc Cartin SD ended the dancing year 2013/14 on a high note recently with huge success at the CRN All Ireland Irish Dancing Championships in Citywest Hotel and Conference Centre, Dublin and the World Irish Dancing Championships which were held in the TF Theatre Royal, Mayo. A total of 46 dancers from the school collected an impressive haul of 140 prizes between the two major events which saw competitors from all corners of the world taking part.

Connaught Irish Dancing Championships a Massive Success!

The CRN Connaught Irish Dancing Championships were held recently over a three day period in the Radisson Hotel, Sligo. Over 400 dancers competed daily, with places at the All Ireland Championship up for grabs!  A 65 strong team from the Mc Cartin SD competed and recorded phenomenal success at the event winning in excess of 250 medals in solo competition. A further 10 Ceilí teams qualified for All Ireland Championships.

Feis Rince Liatroma, a huge success.

To accommodate increasing competitor numbers the annual Mc Cartin SD Drumreilly Feis was relocated to the Ramada Hotel, Drumshanbo recently and it proved a popular venue with dancers travelling from across the West and North West of Ireland to compete. Irish Dance Champion

The Olympian Louis Smith may have taken the Strictly come Dancing Title but one young Fenagh man certainly danced to success when he won the Under 7 Championship at the CRN Shannon Western Connaught Irish Dancing Championships held recently. James Gilheany son of Jimmy and Lesley Gilheany, a pupil of the Mc Cartin School of Irish Dancing Ballinamore/Drumreilly danced his way to success over 3 days of competition to win the overall title. Ella Takes Connaught Title

Congratulations to Champion Dancer Ella Galligan Maguire, daughter of Caroline and Ollie Maguire, Aughalough on her recent success at the Connaught Irish Dancing Championship. Congratulations to talented dancer Blaithin Donohoe, Newtowngore on her recent success at the Connaught Irish Dancing Championships. Blaithin a pupil of the Mc Cartin SD danced her way to success in the under 19 Championship. Dancing over three days of competition the versatile dancer impressed the adjudicators and was deemed Connaught Champion. Congratulations Blaithin and best wishes in the future. Mc Cartin SD sweep the board at Connaught Level

The CRN Shannon Western Connaught Regional Championships were held recently in the Landmark Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon. The three day event was official opened by Cllr Enda Stenson, Chairperson of Leitrim County Council. With over 500 competitors from across the West of Ireland, the Championship acts as a qualifier for the All Ireland Championship which will be held later in 2013. Local Irish dance school the Mc Cartin SD recorded huge success with 60 pupils qualifying for the All Ireland Championships. The following pupils figured amongst the winners:

The annual CRN Drumreilly Feis held on Sunday October 7th, hosted by the Mc Cartin SD once again attracted a capacity crowd. With over 12 hours of competition dancers travelled from counties Leitrim, Sligo, Roscommon, Mayo, Longford, Westmeath, Meath and Dublin to participate. Success for Local Dancers

In September Irish dancing classes commenced in Cornageeha Community Centre under the direction of the Mc Cartin SD facilitated by local dancer Caroline Sorohan and Karl Mc Cartin ADCRN. Mc Cartin SD’s Massive Success at Connaught Level

The CRN Shannon Western Regional Championships was held over a three day period in Roscommon recently. With over 500 competitors the event is the principal Irish Dancing Competition in the West and North West and a qualifier for the CRN All Ireland Championships which will be held in May 2012.

The Mc Cartin SD recorded its best ever showing at a major competition winning over 200 solo medals, 8 Overall Championships and 7 Ceili Titles. In addition 54 dancers qualified for the All Ireland Championships.

Drumreilly Feis- A Huge Success

Capacity crowds flocked to Drumreilly Community Centre on Sunday last 2nd October for the annual CRN Drumreilly Feis hosted by the local dance school the Mc Cartin SD. With competitors from across the west of Ireland competitions ran for over 11 hours with record numbers competiting across all ages groups. All Ireland Honours for Mc Cartin SD

The Cumann Rince Náisiúnta All Ireland Irish Dancing Championships was held recently in the City West Hotel and Conference Centre. The six day Championship brought in excess of 3,000 dancers together from across Ireland and overseas. Local dance school the Mc Cartin SD recorded a massive success collecting 75 medals in both solo and Ceili competitions.  The hard work and dedication of the Mc Cartin SD pupils was evident as the various results were announced. Cormac is All Ireland Champion

Versatile  Cormac Sammon,  son of Brendan and Shirley proved he has what it takes on the dance floor when he collected the Under 12 Championship at the Cumann Rince Náisiúnta All Ireland Irish Dancing Championship held recently  in the City West Hotel and Conference Centre, Dublin. Cormac having qualified through his Regional Championship last November danced a reel and slip jig at the All Ireland collecting maximum marks from the panel of adjudicators. Cormac, who is a pupil of the Mc Cartin School of Irish Dancing Drumreilly/Ballinamore, is no stranger to success. All Ireland honours in any field are not attained without hard work and dedication, two qualities highly evident in Mohill’s Shane Mc Gourty. Shane, son of Bernie and Myles, Tawlaught-a-Valley recently won the under 10 Championship at the Cumann Rince Náisiúnta All Ireland Irish Dancing Championships, which was held over a six day period in Dublin’s City West Hotel and Conference Centre. The CRN Shannon Western Regional Championship was held over a two day period recently in Four Mile House, Co. Roscommon. The Regional Championships act as a means of qualification for the All Ireland CRN Irish Dancing Championships which will be held in the Citywest Hotel and Conference Centre, Dublin in May 2011.  49 pupils from the Mc Cartin SD qualified for the All Ireland at the Championships following spectacular performances in both their solo and team competitions. Recently the Cumann Rince Náisiúnta All Ireland Irish Dancing Championship were held in Citywest Hotel and Conference centre over a 6 day period, competitors travelled from across Ireland, Europe, USA, China and Australia all of whom having qualified through their Regional Championships to earn their place to compete on the All Ireland Stage.

Local dance school, The Mc Cartin SD lifted the All Ireland title in the 6 Hand Ceili Championship, while also earning a further two silver placing for the under 9 and 15 8 Hand Ceili. The winning Ceili team consisted of Sinead Maguire, Drumreilly, Laura Keegan, Fenagh, Pamela Daly, Drumreilly, Eoghan Keegan, Cloone, Conor Cullen, Aughnasheelin and Cormac Sammon, Aughnasheelin. The under nine  team of Tom and Kate Gilheany, Fenagh, James Lennon, Fenagh, Ónisia Mimna, Drumreilly, Orla Kiernan, Carrigallen, Mark Keegan, Fenagh, Aoife Sammon, Aughnasheelin and Ciarán Cullen, Aughnasheelin took 2nd in their competition. In the under 15 section the Mc Cartin SD were pepped to the post by 1.5 marks in a nail biting finale which saw a team from the USA take the gold, however the Mc Cartin team of Tadhg Murray, Drumreilly, Sinead Maguire, Drumreilly, Ciana Stringer, Aughwillian, Owen Mc Partland, Killdallen, Blaithin Donohoe, Newtowngore, Jack Williamson, Arva and Ciara and Conor Gaffney, Drumreilly took sliver.

Cormac Takes Connaught Title.

Congratulations to Cormac Sammon, son of Shirley and Brendan on winning the Connaught CRN Irish Dancing under 11 Championship in Roscommon recently. Dancing a reel and jig, Cormac secured the top marks form the panel of three adjudicators. Cormac will now go forward to represent the area at the All Ireland Championships in May. Congratulations to Grainne Donegan, Gortahoose on winning the under 15 CRN Connaught Regional Irish Dancing Championship in Roscommon recently. Michael Flately Watch Out!

Congratulations to Tom Gilheany a pupil of the Mc Cartin School of Irish Dancing on winning the Connaught CRN Under 9 Irish Dancing Championship at the CRN Regional Oireachtas in Roscommon recently. Tom qualified through his solo round on Saturday 13th and came back to take the overall title on Sunday 14th. Tom will now go forward to represent the Region at the All Ireland Irish Dancing Championships in May. Congratulations to Tom, his family and his dance teacher Karl Mc Cartin.
